All is not lost my friend. Saw your debate on single-payer healthcare and I think you're someone that needs to run for office someday to reduce the size of government!
Thank you, Bill. I am also glad to see someone has read this blog (haha). I am not planning on running for public office, though. For a few reasons.
1) I do not want to enter Washington, it changes people—often not in a good way. 2) I would rather become an academic—an economist, but my biasses should not influence my work as I believe the truth not ideology should be discovered (and I hope my view is correct, but the research should change my view, my view should not change the research, if that makes sense). 3) If my work is indeed correct, I would publish it an attempt to affect public policy. Not lobbying, but hopefully changing politicians minds, the peoples so they vote for the man on the side of truth, and I could also write blogs like this and op-eds. For example, John Lott has changed many states gun laws to be less restrictive, and frequently writes op-eds. He has also written many books.
Although I appreciate the praise, I cannot accept the offer in my current mind :)

In that case, you would make one of the greatest economic advisers of all time. I'm entirely serious when I say that.
DeleteYou're being too generous, Bill.
